Womb Cleanse Care
What is a womb cleanse?
A womb cleanse is where the uterine arteries open and flush/ cleanse the uterus of its lining. When we do not have a complete cleanse imbalances can be created.
The term menstruation comes from the Greek word mene meaning moon and the Latin word mensis meaning month. Traditionally the menstrual cycle was connected to the moon’s cycle. The word period comes from the Greek words 'peri' meaning around and 'hodos' meaning way or path. This became the Latin term ‘periodus’ meaning returning cycle, this then evolved in the early 1800s to the present English word period.
winter
There are four phases to a woman cycle reflecting the seasons of the year. This has been lost overt time and the flow of our energy rarely cycles and syncs with our body. This can lead to energy leaks and dysfunction in our womb cleanse.
Before modern technology women’s cycles would sink with the moon and reflect the seasons of the year. A healthy cycle will want to sink with the moon, having the period often fall on the new moon, a woman’s winter. Sometimes it will sync with the full moon. Winter is a time to turn inwards, reflect and assess. This is how our womb cleanse should be planned, a time where rest is prioritized. Yes, we live in a busy world and work, children can’t be avoided, but posture your time towards rest. By flowing with our innate seasons we can use this energy each month to our advantage. If you are going to launch a new business or have a party plan this to be during your full moon/ ovulation phase. As a teacher once said to me “If you aren’t creating life with it what are you creating?”. In a personal consult we will look further into your seasons and how you might be able to restructure your month to flow with the innate energy within. If an important event coincides with your menstrual cycle, recognise that it may require additional energy from you, and plan accordingly for extra rest and recovery. By aligning with our natural cycles, we can harness this energy each month for our benefit.
5 things to do during your cleanse
1 — Food therapy
One of the main imbalances found in a woman’s cycle is stagnation. This can occur rapidly with cold foods as they slow circulation. During your womb cleanse avoid, cold food and drinks. No mater how nourishing your smoothie may be it can be a disadvantage to your flow. Also include easy to digest foods such as soups, stews, and porridge.
2 — No plugs
Period products can have a profound affect on the health of your bleed. Avoiding the use of tampons which plug and slow/block the flow (even if they are organic), when using them the body can sense there is a block and increase flow and cramping to clear it. Organic reusable pads such a Hannah Pads or Modibodi period underwear. Menstrual cups can have a similar affect to tampons on some and can be beneficial for others, this may come down to how frequently they are emptied.
3 — Warmth
Similar to cold foods, cold exposure during your womb cleanse can bring dysfunction as it is a stress on your body. Energy is then used to rewarm the body and also the cold slows the flow of blood, this can cause an improper cleanse to take place for that month. So whilst cold showers are a health benefit, not during your womb cleanse.
4 — Hydration
Simply there is a loss of fluids during this time of the month and this needs to be replenished. Warm teas such as red raspberries and nettles bring nourishment to the blood and kidneys.
5 — Rest
This may be the hardest to integrate but it may be the most influential to your cycles health. When your body is detoxing rest is always paramount to it being effective however in modern times this recommendation has been lost for a woman’s monthly cleanse. When rest does not happen is can lead to the bleed time lengthening. Secondly by not posturing yourself to rest events will draw more energy from you, lengthening your recovery time.
